The girls are hard at work keeping the business running smoothly. Ruby is trying to keep up with the demand for potholders. (I think she is delusional.)

Meanwhile Trent enjoys the cool pond in the back yard. He is trying to shed a few pounds.

Ruby was sound asleep when suddenly her sheets were soaked and pain was rippling through her stomach.

In the wee hours of the morning she gives birth to a healthy baby girl. She decides to call her Maddison.

But naming her seems to be the last thing she wants to do with her newborn baby girl.

Liv finds herself taking up the role of new parent. Having a crying, fragile being in the house is a new experience for all of them.

While running the shop is a nice way to supply the other sims with goods, not everyone feels comfortable showing up and bartering for a crate of lemons. Ruby and Liv are more than happy to share the wealth with those individuals.

With Maddison's arrival being largely unplanned and unexpected, they weren't prepared with a place for her to sleep. The little house is cramped with three sims and a crying baby just makes it feel even smaller.

Erik pops by for a visit, he doesn't seem very interested in meeting his daughter, he'd much rather spend time with Ruby in the hot tub.

Caring for Maddison hasn't been easy. Sometimes she cries and Liv can't figure out what is wrong with her.

Trent is worried for Maddison. How is her life going to be growing up in a house with a mother that doesn't even acknowledge you.

Erik finally pays a visit to his daughter, but once she starts wailing he is quick to hand her back over to Liv. Babies are not machines that can be fixed with his skills.

Liv doesn't mind playing surrogate mother, but with her condition it is very exhausting.

Liv had been discussing something with Ruby ever since Maddison was born. When she finally saw Pearl again she could put her plan into motion.
"Hey Pearl, are you here to visit your niece?"

"Oh, I'd love to see her. I heard Erik wasn't too impressed by her. He should learn to keep it in his pants if he can't handle the responsibility."
Not having any luck having a baby of her own has made Pearl a little bitter.

"I've been talking something over with Ruby and we were wondering if you and Quinn would like to raise Maddison as your own. We know you two have been trying to have a baby for awhile now."
"Are you sure? You don't think Ruby would change her mind? We would love to raise Maddison, but not if Ruby will just want her back in a week or a year..."
"Ruby hasn't even held Maddison since she gave birth to her. I think this would be the best for everyone."
"Well, I will talk with Quinn and see what he says. One of us will be by later to pick her up if he agrees. Thanks Liv."

Later that day Quinn stopped by to pick up his new baby girl.
"Here you go, are you ready to be an instant father?"
"I hope so, we have everything we need for her anyways, I guess the rest will come with time."

"You two are going to be great parents, I can see that already."
"Thanks Liv. You have no idea how much this means to us. Especially Pearl. I know she wants a baby of her own, but if this is all we hope for it will be more than enough."
"Good luck! Take good care of her, I know you will."

It was a relief to know that Maddison would be in a good home with people that loved her.

Meanwhile Trent has been making friends with the local wolves. Its funny how they don't seem to be afraid or too aggressive towards them.

Quinn stops by the next day to look at Liv's wares.
"Are you sure you don't need another pot holder? They make great gifts and you never know when you're going to need one."
"Hmm, no I think we are good. Do you think Ruby will ever sew anything other than pot holders? Like maybe a teddy bear for Maddison or something?"
"I don't know, she seems pretty determined to make those pot holders... I'll have a talk with her."

One afternoon while out in the garden, Liv and Trent seemed to have managed to disturb a bee hive. Luckily neither of them were stung.

Pearl and Quinn pop by for a little quiet time in the hot springs. They assured Liv that Maddison was being looked after.

"Hey Quinn, I have something here you might like. Its from Ruby, I think you will enjoy it."
"Really? What is it? Not another pot holder I hope..."

Little does Trent know, not all the wolves on the island have pure intentions. He might want to be careful around this one.

"Here Natalya, for the little ones. Ruby made them for you."
"Wow, thanks Liv. I'm sure the boys will love whatever it is."

While Liv was happy to see Maddison in a loving home, it did get quite lonely around the house. Not needing sleep meant she spent a lot of time by herself.

Date: 12 Sep 2013 08:44 (UTC)I think I've had a situation like that in my game too, where the parent ignored their baby completely. I just couldn't give the baby up for adoption, instead I forced the parent to take care of them better. But with Clayfield, that would make an interesting storyline so I just may have to do that if something like that happens again. :P
